To me, this is one of the most haunting photographs in existence. 

Roman Polanski at the door of his former residence the day after his eight months pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, was brutally murdered along with four friends by followers of Charles Manson. The word “PIG” appears on the door, written in his wife’s blood shortly after she was killed.
